Devenir‐materia (in English “Becoming-matter”) is a visual exploration of the materiality of the body through interventions on the photographic support.

The body is explored from its material surface: the skin, unattached from its subjective properties to influence in the physical ones. From this perspective, the meaning of the skin is de-normalized and is interpreted as physical matter incapable of feeling pain.

Through the photographic medium, the image of the body changes its material support to a plastic one that can be manipulated without suffering the consequences that would happen if it were skin and flesh.

Although the act of intervention completely destroys the original image that was contained by the negative, it is through the act of representation and self-portraits that I can create multiple intervening bodies.
